Wanderlust. The fact that it is a German word says a lot about me 😅 I am German. But wait for it, I am Austrian and Hungarian as well. I was born in Austria and by the time I was 9 years old, I was an 'unaccompanied minor' flying by myself from Austria to Canada. Saying goodbye to my mother in the Vienna airport, I was filled with only one feeling - pure excitement, ready to conquer the world.
Since then, I have traveled solo more times than I can count. I was jetsetting across the world between Austria, Canada and the Bahamas long before there was the magical world of the internet 😅 Travel at that time, taught me some valuable life lessons! But I digress.....
Not only have I traveled by myself, being a mother of 4 amazing children and being married, I've also become a pro at planning and organizing trips for a bigger family. By the time my oldest daughter was ten years old, we had already been on a few mother/daughter trips to Canada, Austria, United Kingdom and New York City.
Over the years, I have had the pleasure of visiting numerous places in Europe (Austria, Germany, Greece), the UK (England and Scotland), Canada, Cuba, the USA (Colorado, New York, Florida including countless trips to Walt Disney World) as well as the Bahamas, where we live.
Wanderlust truly describes me perfectly. I was bitten by the travel bug early in my childhood and I have this insatiable desire to choose a destination and learn all the little details about it. I have actually already researched, in detail, quite a few places that I haven't even visited. I become so enthralled in my research, it's as if I've already been there. I can picture them in my mind as if they are memories long forgotten, yet still lingering.
Taking that daring leap to actually bring the plans to life gives me the most rewarding feeling, like a dream is leaping into reality, finally. So many of us do a lot of talking about our dreams and desires. To take the next step and to bring it all to life is too rewarding not to experience for yourself!
